Karen is survived by her three children: Bryan Courtney of Pennsylvania, Tana Lumley and significant other, Jimmy, of El Dorado Springs, and Skyler Dozler of El Dorado Springs; two step-children, Samantha Jo and Lane Ty Berten of Oklahoma; her husband of twenty-nine years, Doug Berten of the home; grandchildren: Asher, Eric, Collin, Brayen, Jacob, and Maggie Mae; two brothers, Darin Lumley and wife, Charity, and Jason Lumley, both of El Dorado Springs; and sister, Terri Jadlot, of El Dorado Springs, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding Karen in death were her parents, Robert and Linda Lumley; sister, Deena Johnson; her beloved fur baby, Teeka Toya; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Karen made her life taking care of others; she worked with the mentally ill for several years at the Southwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehab until she was injured. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She wasn’t afraid to get dirty. She would climb up on the roof alongside the guys whenever they would have a roof job. She loved going exploring and was always up for an adventure. She loved being outdoors and going swimming. She always wanted everyone to come out and swim in her pool.
