David A. Renn, age 66, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away October 26, 2011 at Cedar County Memorial Hospital. He was born in West Frankfort, Illinois, to Albert and Hazel Renn on August 12, 1945. He attended school in West Frankfort, Illinois, until the fall of 1961, then moved to Belleville, Illinois, and graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1963.

Dave married Judy Ramey on June 2, 1968.

Dave taught Social Studies and coached basketball in Salem, Missouri, Winona, Illinois, and Pinckneyville, Illinois, before moving to El Dorado Springs as high school basketball coach and teacher in 1973. Later he taught and coached at Mt. Vernon High School before returning to El Dorado Springs High School in 1995 where he taught and coached the Academic Quiz Bowl Team until he retired in 2011.

Dave and Judy became involved with the people, the school, and the community. Dave loved El Dorado Springs, and it soon became his home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Dave thoroughly enjoyed working with his students, teaching, and coaching. Until his death, he maintained close friendships with many former students and players.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hazel Renn; sisters, Elsie Fay Renn and Pat Raby; and brother, Ivan Renn.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; brothers, Evan Renn of Deland, Illinois, and Dean Renn of Millstadt, Illinois; and a sister, Betty Ramsey of Hampton, Virginia.

Memorial services were held at the First Baptist Church on Monday, October 31, at 2:00 p.m. Ron Marsh, Jessie McCallister, and Brent Bland officiated and Darrin and Jane Griffin provided music. Final disposition was inurnment under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers were: Jay Farris, Kevin Costello, Kirk Sibley, Danny Green, Bob Mowrey, Greg Beydler, John Detwiler, and Bob Coleman.
