Harold “Nick” Pierce Pennell, age 89, of Osceola, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home, Thursday morning, July 23, 2020. He was fighting cancer for a second time and was doing better, thanks to a great doctor, Dr. Leo, at Bolivar Cancer Center and his daughter Tammy’s help with natural treatments. He was really set on making it to his “third thirty,” but recent complications kept that from happening.
Nick was born in Dudenville, MO, on November 12, 1930, to William Alfred and Enola (Parrish) Pennell. He attended Ginger Hill School and was a member of the Newport Baptist Church. He married Patricia Hanna in 1957 and, although they divorced in 1974, they remained lifelong friends. Three children were born from this union.
Nick spent his life setting for his children and for many others a good example of honesty, integrity, and a great sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by them all. He enjoyed telling stories, joking around, fishing, westerns, woodworking, playing horseshoes, spending time with his loved ones, and spoiling his wiener dog, GW.
Survivors include his lifelong friend, Patricia Pennell of Tiffin, MO; two daughters, Tammy Elliott and husband, Earl, and Lisa Pennell, all of Tiffin; grandsons: Thomas Pennell and family, Nick Pennell and family, William Pennell and family, Joseph Pennell and family, Matt Mefford and family, Christopher Miller, and Chad Parsons and family; granddaughters: Trisha Starks and family, Ashley Sanning and family, Robyn Sanning and family, Daran Pennell and family, Crystal Holtsclaw and family, and Tesla Parsons and family; brothers, Louis Pennell and family and Lonnie Pennell and family; sister, Wilma Pennell; numerous great-grandchildren; and his best buddy, his dog, GW.
Preceding Nick in death were his parents; his son, Lester Pennell; two grandsons, Gary Danner and Luke Mefford; four brothers: Loyd Pennell, Roy Pennell, Luther Pennell, and Leonard Pennell; four sisters, Viola Blackford, Rosie Clifford, Mary Harris, and Edith Pennell.
