Betty Whitney, age 89, of Goodman, Missouri, formerly of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away at her home Friday, July 3, 2020. She was born June 19, 1931, in Vernie, Missouri, to Lynzo and Letha (Edwards) Nicholas.
She was married to William Whitney, and they lived in Collins, Missouri, for many years before moving to El Dorado Springs. Betty worked as a waitress and on the farm. She liked to tell people the story of how her parents would sit her on a sack on the ground so she could help pick cotton when she was only three years old.
Betty liked gardening and loved to bake for herself and for other people. She also did lots of crocheting and crafts. She especially loved her Maltese Poodle named “Bear.”
Betty was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Jean and Ruth Ann; step-daughters: Patricia, Brenda, and Billie; step-sons: William, James, and Larry; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
