Wilbur G. Carpenter, Sr., age 85, of rural El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away February 18, 2020, at Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, KS. He was born April 25, 1934, in Strong City, KS, the son of Frank P. Carpenter and Mildred M. (White) Carpenter.
Wilbur loved flowers, gardening, birds, fishing, and being ornery in general. He served his country from 1951-1955, as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include brothers, Clifford and Claire Carpenter (FL), and Robert Hale and family (OR), sister, Debbie Peake (OR), children: son, Will and Ann Carpenter (KS), daughter, Tammie and Doug Neudeck (KS), daughter, Valerie and Nilus Orth (KS); and son, Jerome Asa Carpenter (MO); stepchildren: Jimmy and Donna Freres (CO), Christina Freres (TX), Bobby and Claudia Freres (TX), and Justin and Melissa Freres (MO); grandchildren: Kim and Matt Clinton (WA), Rebecca Neudeck (MO), Doug Neudeck, Jr. (Saudi Arabia), Timothy Neudeck (TX), Clair Phillips (KS), Abery Schmitt (FL), Asa Burl Carpenter (KS), Nikole and Scott Smith (KS) Shannon and Brian Hampel (KS), Faith and Cole Knapp (NY), Jason Freres (TX), Michael Freres (TX), James Flores (CO), Christian Flores (TX), Luke Skidmore (CO), Desiree Hunter (MO), Michael and Passion, (AK), Christian, Ethan, and Austin Freres (TX), and Lindsey and Logan Freres (MO); great-grandchildren: Sage Stinson, Daniel Clinton, Erin Neudeck, Jackson, Hayden, Afton, Palmer, Bryson, Henry, Alia, and Connor Smith, Baby Boy Knapp, coming in July, Nathan Hunter, and Lillian Hunter (deceased).
A funeral service for Wilbur Carpenter was held Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Interment followed at Love Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
