Lloyd “Skeeter” Leonard Whisler, Jr., age 61, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away January 30, 2020. He was born June 11, 1958, to Lloyd Leonard Whisler, Sr. and Geraldine Eva Parker in Bonner Springs, KS. He attended several schools as a youngster. Skeeter grew up spending his time between his Mom and Dad in Kansas City and in Taberville.

Skeeter worked for Telecom Communications as a young man. In 1992, Skeeter decided he would quit traveling around burying cable and would settle in the El Dorado Springs area. He worked many years for Lee Janes Auto, until he found his dream job at Dirt Works Racing, where he worked as long as his health allowed. While working at Dirt Works, Skeeter got to see many famous race car drivers, such as Earnhardt, Jr., Kyle Busch and several others. He even got to take trips to Talladega. He loved those trips with his son, Kelly, and other friends and family.

For several years Skeeter built and raced stock cars (Pintos) in Nevada, winning some and losing some. His racing number was “38 Special”. This number has been passed down to his sons, nephews, and grandchildren to be used on their sports uniforms.

After Skeeter started dialysis, he chose to live at Community Springs Healthcare where he was loved by everyone. He came in contact with many folks who he loved and admired.

Skeeter loved going to the home of his nephew, Joe Florido, for the 4th of July for a day of family fun, fish fry, BBQ, and fireworks. It became like a family reunion. Also, Skeeter would never miss the El Dorado Picnic, even if he had to ride his hoveround down for the evenings to see the excitement.

Preceding Skeeter in death were his mother, Geraldine; father, Lloyd, Sr.; infant son, Raymon “Digger”; sisters, Margie Daniels and Anna Rock; and father-in-law, Glen Bruce.

Survivors include wife, Virginia “Kay” Whisler of the home; two sons, Lloyd “Chigger” Leonard Whisler, III, and wife, Kristina, of Nevada, MO, and Kelly Whisler and wife, Cheyenne, of El Dorado Springs; three stepsons: Victor Bruce of El Dorado Springs, DeWayne Williams and wife, Sam, of Kansas City, MO, and Christopher Williams of El Dorado Springs; ten grandchildren: Bailey Hamm of Grandview, MO; Natile, Ayden, Naudia, and Alek Bruce of El Dorado Springs; Jessica, Konner and Fin Williams of Kansas City, MO; and Joushawa and Brooklyn Whisler of El Dorado Springs; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Whisler of Taberville, MO; one sister Missy Long and husband, Bobby, of Azle, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
