Adam L. Carriker, age 51, of rural El Dorado Springs, MO, lost his battle with cancer at his home on August 23, 2019.

Adam was born at Cedar County Memorial Hospital on March 28, 1968, to Roy A. and Lila L. (Blystone) Carriker. The family moved to Texas when he was four and he resided in Houston, TX, until five years ago, when he returned to Cedar County. He graduated from Northshore High School in Houston. He also attended ITT Technical College in Houston. For the last 22 years he has worked for AT&T. His final title was as a senior application developer.

He loved to fish, be out in nature, and watch wildlife, plus all through his life he picked up interesting rocks wherever he went, which led to the hobby of lapidary—cutting, polishing and mounting gemstones. After moving back to rural Missouri, he took great pride in what he could grow in his garden and was always trying new varieties of fruits and vegetables. He was a handyman and enjoyed “fixing things”.

He was a fun loving, hard working husband, father, grandfather, and son.

Adam was preceded in death by his father, Roy A. Carriker and grandparents, Allen and Helen Carriker, Wallace Blystone, and Wilma Pippin.

Survivors include: the love of his life, Joyce Pierce; daughters, Genie Marie (Cam) Carriker, Tiffany (Aaron) Carriker; step-sons, Michael and Christopher Hatler; mother, Lila L. Carriker (Perry); brothers, Eric (Micheal) and Merle (Renessa) Carriker; foster brothers, John (Mary) Sweeting, and Steven (Teri) Wright; grandchildren, Noah and Sutton Hatler, Trenton and Zoey Scanlin, and Grant Hatler; plus numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.

Primary services will be held in Houston, TX, on September 6, 2019. A visitation/celebration of life will be held on September 14, 2019, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
