Wilma Ellen “Cookie” (Ellifrits) Hickox, age 84, passed away August 23, 2019, at Lake Stockton Healthcare in Stockton, MO. She was born August 31, 1934, the fourth child of William (Bill) Ellifrits and Mary (Bird) Ellifrits in Kansas City, KS.
Wilma attended grade school in Stott’s City, MO, and graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS. She married the love of her life, Ray DeWitt, Jr., on July 14, 1952, and eight children were born to this union.
Preceding Wilma in death were: her husband, Ray Hickcox, Jr., in 1984; her parents, Bill and Mary Ellifrits; three brothers: James, William (Dutch), and Robert (Bob); two sons, Ray III (Skip) and Benjamin (Todd); two daughters-in-law, Sharon and Sheila; and one son-in-law, Virgil Postlewait.
Survivors include one sister, Velma (Pat) Burns of El Dorado Springs; one sister-in-law, Jeraldine (Jerri) Ellifrits, of El Dorado Springs; six children: Valorie and Jim Hensley, of Clarksburg, MO, William (Bill) Hickcox, of Ashburg, MO, Sherryn Postlewait, of Bucyrus, MO, Matthew and Dianna Hickcox, of Springfield, MO, Michelle and Randy Stevens, of Jerico Springs, MO, and Daniel and Cathy Hickcox, of Houston, MO; one step-son, David and Debbie Sturgeon, of Shreveport, LA; one daughter-in-law, Janet Hickcox, of Clinton, MO; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones who will miss her greatly.
A service for Wilma Hickcox will be held August 31, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Church on the Hill in Stockton, MO, with Pastor Beau Norman officiating. A graveside service will be held on September 1, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at New Salem Cemetery in Couch, MO, with Pastor Wayne Hurst officiating. Disposition was under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
