Lofty Glen Gibbs, age 49, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Lofty was born on September 24, 1969, in El Dorado Springs, the son of Patty Lea Gibbs and the late Robert Lafayette Gibbs.
Lofty graduated from El Dorado R-II in 1988. He married Tammy Taylor in October, 1989, and to this union a son, Austin (Gibbs) Martinez was born. Lofty and Tammy divorced in 1995.
Lofty enjoyed life by always being the most loving, rowdy, outgoing, and upbeat man, that was ever made. He loved dancing, singing, playing ball, spending time with family, and helping anyone who ever needed it. Many times he had even given the shirt off his back when someone needed it more than him.
Lofty grew up ornery. He began making a living mowing lawns in town with his brother, Brian. He then began working at Dunbrooke, construction on Murphy Farms, Tri-State Highway, Summerfresh, Silverline Ranch, and finally his favorite, working construction and assisting with Nance Auction Co.
Preceding Lofty in death were: his father, Robert; four uncles: Wayne, Keith and Kelly Gibbs, and Clinton Rolando; three aunts: Janice Scott, Susie Evans, and Deanne Farmer.
Survivors include: his mother, Patty; brother, Brian Gibbs and girlfriend, Beth; sister, Susan Stone and husband, Lloyd; son, Austin Martinez; fiancÚ, Deborah Elliston; nieces: Brittany Hutchison and husband, Kolton, Spencer Gibbs and boyfriend, Chris White, and Megan Wood and boyfriend, Zach Whitaker; grandson, Zaiden Harper; great-nephews: Quade Hutchison and Oliver White; great-niece, Aspen Tittle; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services for Lofty Gibbs were held on Monday, August 5, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Bro. Noel Scott officiating. Burial followed in Love Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Robert Wayne Gibbs, Jason Spencer, Kendall Gibbs, Austin Martinez, Trenton Leonard, and Travis Burchett. Honorary pallbearers were: Brian Gibbs, Kevin Scott, D.J. Reeder, Kyler Leonard, Greg Leonard, Lloyd Stone, and Jim Simrell.
