Roger Dale Eason went to be with our Lord on July 26, 2019, surrounded by family. Roger was born December 10, 1947, to Frances and Myrtle Eason.
Roger was loved by his family for many things. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved all things about it including hunting, fishing, bird watching, plants and trees, and wildlife. He grew up on a farm south of El Dorado Springs, MO, where he spent his youth with his parents and siblings. He was a hard working farm boy just doing whatever necessary from sun up to sun down to make sure the family had food in their bellies and clothes on their backs. He carried that work ethic with him throughout his life. You could often find him working at the local lumber yard, delivering eggs, fixing appliances, working on HVAC units, or selling real estate. He liked to say that he was a “jack-of-all trades and master-of-none”.
Roger married his wife, Joy, on October 15, 1982, and moved to Dederick, MO, where he was a member of the Dederick Christian Church. He loved working with his hands and would often be found building furniture or garden pieces in his work shop, planting trees, or wandering around the yard tending to his garden. He believed in being a good father and he believed that the best way to bond with a child was in the woods, teaching them about nature, how to slow down and enjoy the wildlife, and how to hunt and fish. He believed in teaching kids about woodworking, tools, and life lessons and he never missed a moment to tell a good story or to lecture on all topics of life. His favorite line was to look at one of his children or grandchildren after a successful hunting or fishing trip and say “you would be nothing without me”. He was right. His legacy is in that message. His children and grandchildren will remember his message and use it to build future generations upon. “There’s no problem too big for God and the woods. For it’s in the woods where you will find yourself. That’s where you’ll find peace.”
Roger is survived by his wife, Joy Eason, of the home; son, Brian Eason of El Dorado Springs, MO; daughters, Michelle Sanderson and husband Doug Sanderson of Nevada, MO, Amber Eason of Nevada, MO, Amanda Eason of San Antonio, TX, Miranda McKinney of Springfield, MO, and Marci Boone and husband Drew Boone of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Mattison Eason, Hayley Belanger, Mitchell Jacobs, Quinton Jacobs, Cole Sanderson, Cayden Sanderson, Case Sanderson, Jacob Dunfield, Sierra Johnson, Lakota Johnson, McKenzie Hill, Darian Buckner, Marcel Eason, Abby Ring, Weston Ring, Deegan Brake, Trenton Brake, Kylie Boone, and Asher Boone; great grandchildren, Raizelle Woodward, Dracen Dunfield and Zaven McLaughlin; and siblings, Loren Eason and Brenda Widener.
