George Edward Minehardt, age 72, passed away May 10, 2019, in Springfield, MO. He was born at Kahoka, MO, on April 8, 1947, to Louis G. and Cecil (Whorton) Mindhardt.
After high school graduation, Ed followed his older brothers and graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO. After attending SMS University in Springfield, he married Sharon Toliver in 1969, and two children were born to this marriage. He later married Barbara Voet and two children were born.
Ed entered the U.S. Army in 1969 and was stationed in Germany in 1970-71. After discharge, he worked in the plumbing and heating business, as well as maintenance for Murray Distributing, Bass Pro, and John Morris Companies.
Ed was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Louis Minehardt.
Survivors include: one brother, Francis Hamlin; four children, Tim, David, Kara, and Scott; and seven grandchildren. Since becoming unable to live alone, he had been in the care of his son, Tim and Stacy and family, in El Dorado Springs, MO.
As a young man, Ed had endless energy. When he wasn’t working long hours, he and his children were on river banks fishing and camping. His weekend cooking and barbecues are fondly remembered. He will be missed.
