Thomas Henry “just call me Tom” Jones, age 74, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away April 29, 2019, at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO. He was born September 8, 1944, to Herbert and Edna Mae (Steward) Jones in Vernon County, MO, the youngest of four children.
Tom attended first through third grade at Glade Springs School and then graduated from Sheldon High School in 1962. He helped his dad and uncles on the farm and enjoyed working with them. After graduation, he served in the Missouri National Guard from 1965 to 1971. He started a 47 year construction career at the Stockton Dam and ended it in Albuquerque, NM, rising to the role of project superintendent.
On May 19, 1973, Tom married Lana Sue Lewallen and to their union two sons were born, Kirt Thomas and Krag Ryan. Tom enjoyed his family, taking the boys hunting and fishing, and practicing baseball. His granddaughter, Brooke, was the highlight of his life. He would call her “My Twiddle Bug,” and she would call him "Papa." He was a good friend, great father, and loving husband.
Anyone who needed help would find that Tom was always there to lend a hand. He dearly loved to barbeque for people and share his cooking. During quail season, you could find him out hunting with his favorite dog, Mick. He belonged to several organizations, including: the Masonic Fraternity, the Order of the Eastern Star, Shriners, and Scottish Rite. He became a member of Glade Springs Missionary Baptist Church in April 1958.
Preceding Tom in death were his parents; one brother, Howard Jones; and his aunts and uncles.
