Linda (Dale) Douglas, age 59, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on December 17, 2018, after a short battle with cancer. Linda was born November 11, 1959, in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Gene Dale and Dorothy (Keller) Dale. She graduated from El Dorado Springs R-II Schools in 1978. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Nevada TV Cable Company, as a CNA, and also owned her own tanning business for several years.
Linda was known by many for her memorable and contagious laugh. One of her friends said “She was the one who broke with a giggle at the worst moments.” She loved her friends, had a great sense of humor, and loved playing pranks. One that comes to mind has to do with a Whoopee Cushion and her dad, but we won’t go there! She loved music, especially Elvis, Elton John, and Bon Jovi. She also loved to watch movies – the scarier the better – unless it involved spiders.
Linda also loved her family and was very protective. Her daughter, Taylor, was her world. Taylor and Jonah announced they were expecting a baby, and Linda was ecstatic, she had wanted a grandchild for so long. Linda moved to Independence so she could help care for the baby. Silas Eugene was born and it was difficult to bring her back to earth! She called him “Grandma’s Boy.” In her last days, she still tried to physically love on little Silas, but it was not possible for her to hold him. It was quite obvious, though, that the sentiment was still there for “Grandma’s Boy.”
As we grieve the loss of Linda, we also rejoice in the fact that she had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, which was the best decision she ever made. She is now in the arms of Jesus.
Preceding Linda in death is one brother, Ronnie Dale.
Survivors include her parents, Gene and Dorothy (Keller) Dale, of El Dorado Springs; one daughter, Taylor Mendenhall and husband, Jonah, of Independence, MO; one grandson, Silas Eugene Mendenhall; one sister, Connie (Dale) Olson and husband, Ben, of Nevada, MO; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services for Linda Douglas were held December 21, 2018, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs, with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
