Charles’ wife, Melvina, suffered from Alzheimer’s and passed April 7, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and left at the funeral home.

Charles William “Dub” “Chuck” Forest, age 86, of Diamond, MO, formerly of the El Dorado Springs area, passed away peacefully September 28, 2018. He had been cared for in his home by his daughter until the last week of his illness.

Charles was born February 6, 1932, in El Dorado Springs, MO, the son of Lester and Laura Forest. He attended elementary school in Jerico Springs and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. Following graduation, Charles worked as a general contractor in El Dorado Springs.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and served in Germany and Tripoli. He was honorably discharged in 1959.

Charles married Melvina Gertrude Breedlove on September 7, 1955, in Reno, NV. To this union three children were born.

Charles graduated from the Federal Aviation Administration Academy and began his career as a federal aviation control tower operator and continued this until his retirement in 1989, after 35 years of service.

Following his retirement, Charles and Melvina promoted wrestling events, country music shows, and gospel music shows around the country.

Charles was baptized and believed in God. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He had an extremely large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Charles loved to travel and visited Canada, Mexico and most of the United States, including Hawaii. Overseas travel included Samoa, Australia and New Zealand.

His hobby was small engine repair work. He was known around Diamond, MO and Newton County as the lawn mower and tractor “fixer” and “trader”.

Charles enjoyed the Christmas holiday and for 25 years he was dedicated to serving the four-states children in need through the firefighters “Christmas for Kids Program.”

He loved to help others, worked hard and was always on the go. He loved to laugh and he laughed hardest at himself. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his children: Neal Timothy Forest of Diamond, MO, Colleen Sherill Forest of Diamond, MO, and Mark Howard Forest, of Independence, MO; and three grandchildren: Todd and Tabitha Forest of Neosho, MO, Layton Charles Forest and Beckett William Forest, of Independence, M0.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Melvina, five brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services for Charles Forest were held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Burial followed in Hall Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Neal Forest, Mark Forest, Todd Forest, Gary Forest, Dave Forest, Mack Forest, and Chuck Forest.
