Dorothy “Grace” (Blackmore) Cartwright, age 88, of rural El Dorado Springs passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017. She was born on July 14, 1929, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, to Gilbert and May Blackmore. She was the eldest of four children and is survived by Thelma Smith, Evelyn Ford, and Becky Oehring.
Grace married Joe Cartwright on February 22, 1947. To this union ten children were born. They were married almost 60 years before his passing in 2006.
The early years of marriage were spent in California, then they moved back to the Lebeck area (rural El Dorado Springs) for the remainder of their marriage.
Grace loved her life as a homemaker and spending time with her children. Grace enjoyed milking her jersey cows and spending time on the farm with her livestock.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Joe Cartwright; two daughters: Christine Grubb and Josephine Schelman; two baby boys in infancy; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include her six children: David Cartwright, Eunice Allen, Jessica Hemperley, Gilbert Cartwright, Gary Cartwright, and Marybeth Cartwright. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was loved by many for her caring, giving and nurturing spirit.
Funeral services for Grace Cartwright will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Bland-Hackleman Chapel. Burial will follow in Lebeck Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are: Kris Cartwright, Derick Cartwright, Eric Cartwright,Doug Nall, Janet Miles, Brian Brasher, Kelly Hemperley, and Kalvin Miles.
