Wanda J. Cargill, age 89, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away on September 7, 2017, at Community Springs Healthcare. Wanda was born March 27, 1928, in Little Rock, AR, to George and Bertha (Rodgers) Smith. Wanda was raised by her grandparents.
At sixteen years of age, she began working at Walgreens Drug Store in Little Rock. It wasn’t long until she met Finis Cargill, who was serving in the US Army. On May 17, 1945, Wanda and Finis were married. After Finis was discharged from the Army, the couple moved to Missouri, where they had their son Paul.
In 1965, the couple relocated to El Dorado Springs. Wanda started working for the International Shoe Factory. In her spare time, Wanda loved making quilts for friends and family, embroidering, and working in her garden.
Wanda was a feisty woman who loved a good joke and making people laugh. She really enjoyed animals, especially her little dog and Tillman, who was brought to visit her. Christmas and birthdays were special to her, because she got to celebrate with her special group of friends. Even though Wanda loved her family dearly, she found so much happiness at the nursing home. She was thankful and proud to call it home.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Finis and her parents.
Survivors include her son Paul Cargill and wife Vickie; her grandchildren, Jennifer Crutcher and Stacey Cargill; and four great-grandchildren: Ashley, Ally, Dylan, and Josh, all from Kingwood, Texas.
Funeral services for Wanda Cargill will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Rev. Brent Bland will officiate. Burial will follow in Clintonville Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
