Meredith “Cap” Parrish, age 78, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away June 22, 2011, at Medicalodges Care Center in Nevada, Missouri. He was born September 12, 1932, in Jerico Springs, Missouri, to Albert Gains Parrish, Sr. and Helen Grace (Hall) Parrish.

Cap attended grade school in Montevallo and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1951. He joined the Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1956. After his discharge he was a member of the American Legion for over fifty years, and enjoyed volunteering for many fundraisers.

On November 18, 1961, he was married to Anna Geneva Egbert in Kansas City, Missouri.

Cap was a lifelong farmer, most of which was spent in the Montevallo area. His farming activities included cattle, hogs, and row crops; but he especially enjoyed baling hay. For many years he sold DeKalb Seed Corn. He also sold crop insurance and was a crop adjuster. He was a member of the Township Road Board for over fifty years and was active in the Vernon County Farm Service Agency. After the devastating tornado in 2006, Cap built back and continued to operate the farm.

Many hours were spent collecting and repairing toy tractors. He enjoyed attending the tractor shows and visiting with his many friends. His grandson, Cameron, was the light of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Junior Parrish; and a son, Larry.

Survivors include his wife, Anna, of the home; one son Jeff Parrish and wife Kim of Montevallo, Missouri; two grandchildren, Cameron and Kelsey; one uncle, Thomas Hall; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Cap Parrish will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Rev. Brent Bland will officiate. Lou Ferguson and Jay Jennings will provide music. Interment will follow in Virgil City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Eldon Steward, Hank Leonard, Larry West, Steve Woody, Adam Dole and Mark White.
