Robert Cecil Nicholas, age 89, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away early Sunday morning, March 13, 2016, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 30, 1926, the youngest son of Jake and Emma (Leonard) Nicholas.
Cecil attended school as a child and began working as a young man. He worked in sawmills, lumberyards, and in landscaping, as well as some time with National Plastic in Kansas City. In 1963, he began working at Dunbrooke in El Dorado Springs; he retired from the company in 1996.
In 1962, Cecil became the father to a son, Troy, whom he raised as a single father from the time he was very young. He was a loving father and a constant, supportive presence in his sonís life until his death.
Cecil liked to spend his free time outdoors, fishing, working on his lawnmowers, and gardening. He also spent time with family and friends.
Preceding Cecil in death were his parents; a brother, Albert, and his wife, Loreva; and a brother, Orville, and his wife, Nellie.
Survivors include his son, Troy Nicholas and wife Sherri, as well as a granddaughter, Erica, all of El Dorado Springs.
