Lois Pauline (Carriker) Spangler, age 90, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away February 2, 2016, at Shangri-La Care Center in Blue Springs, MO. Pauline was born May 21, 1925, the daughter of William Arthur and Nancy Anna (Francis) Carriker.

Pauline graduated the 8th grade from Riverview Elementary, and from El Dorado High School in 1943. In October, 1941, Pauline married William Spangler, and on May 7, 1945, they had one daughter, Sharon Ann, who preceded her in death.

Pauline worked at the International Shoe Factory in El Dorado Springs, MO, for 39 years before retiring. She was a faithful member of the Blue Ridge Church of God (Holiness). In her retirement, Pauline enjoyed traveling the United States with her long-time friend and companion, Floyd Robinson.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter Sharon Ann (Spangler) Smythia Becquart; her sister Zoe (Carriker) Coleman; grandson-in-law Steven Thompson; and her long-time companion Floyd Robinson.

Survivors include three grandchildren: Damon Smythia of Grain Valley, MO, Christopher Duke (Dian) Smythia of Daytona Beach, FL, and Tonya Smythia (Chris) Mangum of Joplin, MO; five great-grandchildren: Arianna Johnson of Pittsburg, KS, Douglas Johnson of Neodesha, KS, Amy Smythia and Julie Smythia of Daytona Beach, FL, and Dalton Mangum of Joplin, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Preferred Hospice and Shangri-La Care Center for the care and love that was shown to Pauline.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 4, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Funeral services for Pauline Spangler will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, with Rev. James Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Damon Smythia, Chris Smythia, Aaron Heimsoth, Chris Coleman, Mike Coleman and Junior Sawyer.
