Mary Blanche (Gay) Walker, age 80, of rural El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away at Community Springs Healthcare Facility on Thursday morning, April 16, 2015. She was born in Canton, Kansas, on March 28, 1935, to Arthur Spencer Gay, Sr. and Hazel Ruth Pettijohn Gay. She attended some school in El Dorado Springs, but due to having rheumatic fever as a child, was also homeschooled.

She married Mancel Eugene Walker on October 27, 1957. To their union, two children were born.

She was a dedicated wife and mother who worked hard to care for her family. Many times she not only maintained the household but also worked at Eugene’s side on the farm. She was a faithful member of the Fairview Community Church near Jerico Springs spending many years as a Sunday School teacher and working in Vacation Bible School. She was also very active in 4-H with her children. One of her greatest joys, as well as Eugene’s, was helping others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a niece.

She is survived by her two children: Mark Mancel Walker of Branson, Missouri and Karen Gayle Gleich and husband, Daniel, of Oak Grove, Missouri; three grandchildren: Julie, Joseph, and Jacob Gleich; three sisters-in-law: Gretchen Demby, Ruth Green, and Elaine Reynolds; five nieces; five nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mary Walker will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Nickell officiating. Interment will follow in Brasher Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are: Joseph Gleich, Jeffrey Gay, Greg Reynolds, Joel Green, Jarrod Green, and Charlie Green. Honorary pallbearer is Zach Reynolds.
