Alpha Schindler, age 95, passed from this life on February 4, 2015. She was born January 19, 1920, in Cedar County, Missouri, the sixth child of eight born to Thomas and Elnora (Chaney) Dillsaver. She grew up and attended school in the Cedar County area. In 1938 she married Oren Bowen, also from Cedar County. They moved to Ellensburg, Washington, where lived about ten years. She became the mother of daughter Glenda Gale and baby daughter Tamsen Ann, who only lived two days.

On October 16, 1949, she married Elmer Schindler of Niobrara, Nebraska. They moved to Roseburg, Oregon, and lived there about twenty-seven years. She enjoyed the life of a stay-at-home homemaker. Her family especially enjoyed traveling to the Oregon coast where they camped, as well as near beautiful lakes and rivers throughout the state. They built two of their homes and purchased older homes and remodeled them. Alpha was gifted to be able to design these homes and had an ability to decorate them beautifully. She and Elmer were married almost forty-seven years.

In 1952, while in Oregon, she and Elmer committed their lives to Jesus Christ, and were an active part of the First Church of God. In 1977, they moved back to El Dorado Springs, Missouri, and lived here ever since. Her current church home was the Community Church of El Dorado Springs.

Since moving to Missouri, she often talked of how much she missed and longed to spend time at her beautiful ocean. However, she loved being close to her family again.

She was preceded in death by her parents and tiny daughter; both of her husbands; both brothers: Ora Dillsaver and Emery Dillsaver; all five of her sisters: Melissa Hess, Oma Witt, Eula Helm, Mary Greenstreet, and Edna Gilpin; all their spouses; a step-great-grandson, Kelly Masters; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughter Glenda (GG) Cole and husband, Michael, of El Dorado Springs; three grandsons: Shawn Cole and wife, Michelle, of Springfield, MO, Dustin Cole of Shawsville, VA, and Kelby Cole and wife, Vesta, of Nevada, MO; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
