Alden Arval Sallee, age 92, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, left this life on January 10, 2015. He was born in Cedar County on June 22, 1922, to Harry and Edna Mae (Fortney) Sallee.
On August 2, 1941, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Loriane Brower. This union was blessed with five children: Tony, Connie, Velva, Janice, and Nancy.
After marriage Alden volunteered for the service. He was a Fireman First Class Gunner on the SS Whitter Hills Ship stationed in the Philippines. After returning home he worked and retired from the State Highway Department.
During his 73 years of marriage to Betty, they enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, hunting and camping with their kids, grandkids and friends.
Alden never knew a stranger. Anyone was welcome to put their feet under his kitchen table for a meal or card playing. To those who knew him, he was an honest, outspoken, and loveable man. One of his quotes was, “If it’s too good to loan out, it’s too good for me.” He felt he had a wonderful family and life.
Earlier in his life he found salvation in the Lord.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry and Edna Sallee; a brother, Dennis Sallee; a sister, Wanda Sallee; and two daughters: Janice Skakal and Nancy Melton.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; one son, Tony Sallee and wife Betty; two daughters: Connie Williams and husband Jim and Velva Lasley and husband Roy; two sons-in-law, Kenny Skakal and Randy Melton; thirteen grandchildren: Penny Petrey, Linnie Sallee, Jenny Alexander, Toby Sallee, Chris Burrus, Alden Williams, Jamie Jacobs, Troy Lasley, Angela Smith, Jan Rowland, Jill Janes, Scott Melton, and Dale Melton; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many, many friends.
