Bill Joe Hacker, age 83, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away September 17, 2014, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born June 11, 1931, in Vernon County to Howard Hacker and Angie (Palmer) Hacker. After graduation from high school, he taught three years at Green Springs School. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War.

Bill was preceded in death by daughter, Rebecca Jo Hacker; his parents; two brothers: Jim Hacker and Tom Hacker; two sisters: Bonnie Culbertson McDaniel and Sue McDaniel; and grandson, Samuel Hacker.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Margie (Jennings) Hacker of the home; two sons: David Hacker and wife Paula of Diamond, MO, and Rusty Hacker of El Dorado Springs, MO; two daughters: Tamie Brown and husband Steve of Springfield, MO, and Christy Hubbard and husband Nat of Garnett, KS; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bob Hacker and wife Carol and Dick Hacker and wife Sandy, both of Nevada, MO; and many other relatives and friends.

In his early years he devoted his life to education and helping children in the community. He was employed as Elementary Principal at El Dorado Springs for 18 years. He worked as a social worker for the State. He also sold real estate for many years. He served as Deacon at the First Baptist Church for several years.

Funeral services for Bill Hacker will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of God (Holiness). Brian Morris will officiate and David Henley provide music. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are: Jeff Hubbard, Kenny Hubbard, Randy E. Bland, Scott Watkins, David Henley, and Travis Bland.
