Elda Jean (Shoemaker) Ketterman, age 88, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away at Cedar County Hospital on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Jean was born on October 23, 1925, in El Dorado Springs, the daughter of Jesse and Lula (Seelinger) Shoemaker. As a young girl she helped her parents run their family grocery store. Jean graduated from El Dorado Springs High School, class of 1943.

Jean married Don Ketterman on February 2, 1945. The couple lived in Georgia while Don was in the Army during World War II. Later, they moved to a farm outside El Dorado Springs, then to a house in town. They were married 50 years before Donís passing in 1995. To their union five children were born.

Elda Jean loved her family. She was a faithful Christian woman and a hard worker. She taught her family to put God first and show love to others. She enjoyed her church family, playing cards with her girl friends and her sisters.

Preceding Elda Jean in death were her husband, Don; her parents; a brother, Vivian Shoemaker; one granddaughter, Holly Swopes; and one grandson, Tyler Swopes.

Survivors include her five children: Donna Elliott of El Dorado Springs, MO; Dave Ketterman and wife Cathy of Nevada, MO; Gary Ketterman of Ft. Mojave, AZ; Leonard Ketterman and wife Beth of Greenwood, MO; and Polly Eichelberger and husband Tom of Kingsville, MO; eleven grandchildren: Jeana Swopes, Bailey Conklin, Jessie (Leevon) Grant, Hannah (Derik) Scotten, Krystal Copeland, Matthew Kirksey, Rita Kirksey, Shastyn Ketterman, Sasha Ketterman, Josiah Ketterman, and Mattie Eichelberger; two great-grandchildren: Tanner Grant and Tatum Grant; and two sisters: Luberta Henderson and Arda Faye Bruce.

Funeral services for Elda Jean Ketterman were held Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, El Dorado Springs, with Rev. Ron Marsh officiating. Rusty Carver, Josiah Ketterman, and Cassie Sayler provided music. Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Dave Ketterman, Leonard Ketterman, Josiah Ketterman, Jack Ketterman, Leevon Grant, Derik Scotten, and Lewis Eslinger.
