Obituary
Junior Edward Bland was born on October 31, 1926, to Lewis and Minnie (Burton) Bland in Black Jack, MO. He was called to his Heavenly home on August 22, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.

On April 2, 1953, Junior was married to Leola Messick. To this union, twin daughters were born. Kathy Dianne and Karen Deanne were the prized possessions of the entire family, especially their dad.

Junior was saved and sanctified at his boyhood church and continued to attend faithfully until health issues prevented otherwise. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Leola; his parents, Lewis and Minnie; and infant brother, Kenneth. He is survived by daughters, Kathy Davis and husband Jim; Karen Davis and husband Nolan; granddaughters, Tessa Davis, Brooke Davis, and Britni Dunham and husband Thomas; great granddaughter, Leah; sister, Wilma Burres and husband Lester; and brother, Gerald Bland and wife Virginia.

Junior lived on the family farm his entire life farming and raising cattle. Family and church were of utmost importance in his life. He loved to fish, hunt, and tell stories of healthier, happier days. Being a dad and a grandpa brought him many joys even in his deteriorating condition.

With a dry sense of humor, an outspoken opinion, and a crooked smile when he thought he was right, Dad could always make you strive to please. Thanks Dad, for the legacy you left for those of us who remain. Missing you already and looking forward to the day when we can meet and tell you again how much you meant to us.

Funeral services for Junior Bland were held Saturday, August 25, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, with Rev. Joe Dodson and Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Vera Bourland provided music. Burial followed in Love Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Wayne Worthington, Ike Clay, Travis Bland, Trent Bland, Quinton Bland, and Tysen Sayler.
