Carol Lanser, age 51, former resident of El Dorado Springs, MO, died July 12, 2012, at her home in Knoxville, IA.
Carol was born June 26, 1961, in Elmhurst, IL, to Alice Fifield and Richard Jonason. As she grew up in Phoenix, AZ, she often compared herself to the Coppertone girl because she spent most of her time swimming at the pool with her siblings. She graduated high school in 1979 from El Dorado Springs, MO, and moved to Minneapolis for a short time. In 1981, she returned to El Dorado Springs, MO, and married David Hines. She spent most of her time raising their children, Allen and Carla, on the farm. In 1988 she started working at 3M, Nevada, MO, where she was employed for 21 years. Carol and David separated in 2003. Carol was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in September 2004.
Carol and Mike Lanser were married in November 2004. They enjoyed traveling to places in the US. They moved to Knoxville in 2011, where they quickly made new friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Richard Jonason.
Carol is survived by: her husband Mike Lanser; one son Allen Hines; one daughter Carla Fish and husband Adam; one granddaughter Addison Fish; mother and stepfather Alice and Jack Fifield; sister Susanne Thompson and husband Steve; sister Linda Carsten and husband David; sister Gail Jonason; brother Don Jonason and wife Melanie; sister Anne Walters and husband Gabe; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs, MO, with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
A memorial dinner will be held on Thursday, July 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Celebrate Community Church in Knoxville, IA.
