Sheila Buckley Avalaz,64, passed away on July 8, 2022, in Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. Sheila was born to Metcalf Avalaz and Willie Williams on November 11, 1957, in St Louis, Missouri. She grew up in East St. Louis, Illinois. She lived in a Rehab Center in Nevada, Missouri, until 1998 and moved to an ISL home, where the caregivers dearly loved her. She loved people and had many friends. She liked going out, big TV, fried chicken, and being called “Sheila B.” Sheila always wanted to go to church and sing in the choir.
She will be missed by her caregivers, Tracy Longstreth, Gayle Bell, Mary Ellen Farmer, Miranda Vaughn, Tori Fetters, Katrina West, and long time roommate Karisa Trued.
Sheila is survived by two sisters; Sharon McGee of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Charlotte Buckley of St James, Missouri; one brother Michael Avalaz of Denver, Colorado; and many friends.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Shirley Buckley, and brothers Martin Buckley and Bernard Davis.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Bland-Hackleman Chapel in El Dorado Springs, Mo. Interment will follow at Waynesville Memorial Cemetery, Waynesville, Missouri.
