Obituary Yvonne was born to Paul and Ellen Taylor on January 17, 1945 in Lamar, CO. Yvonne
went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 30, 2022 in El Dorado
Springs, MO.
Yvonne married me, Larry Worthington, 56 wonderful years ago on May 28th,. As
parents of 4 children - 3 bilogical and one adopted: Everett Paul Worthington, Una Joy
Worthington Barbee, Vonda LaRae Worthington Tate and Benjamin Lawrence
Worthington along with two inlaws: Lori Worthington and Cheryl Worthington and
Grandparents to Elisa Tate, Brock Worthington and Kinleigh Worthington. My Yvonne
was anxiously awaiting being Great Grandma to Ezra Casper coming this August.
Yvonne was "BIG SISTER" to Judy (Judith) Hall of New Mexico, Eva Birt of Kansas,
Raymond Taylor of Arkansas, Charley Taylor of Colorado, and adopted brother, Lou
Lunsford of Texas. Yvonne was raised of modest means working in her family's
businesses: Laundro Mat, Real Estate, Home for the Elderly and Disabled, Farming and
Ranching. She was a hard worker with a servant heart to God, family and all humanity.
At an early age, Yvonne gave her heart and life to Jesus. To this commitment she
remained true and faithful to the end of her journey on this earth.
Yvonne only and ever knew she wanted to be a school teacher and work with children.
She attended the Church of God (Holiness) Church and Bible School from Kindergarten
through High School. She began her higher education at Lamar Community College
then on to Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. Yvonne graduated with the
highest distinction of Summa Cum Laude.
Yvonne began her teaching career in secondary education at Lamar Bible School where
she taught for 12yrs before moving to Grand Junction, Colorado. Yvonne wanted to
raise our children yet teach so she chose to be a Substitute Teacher in the Grand
Junction Public School System for 17yrs. When I retired in 1995, we moved to El
Dorado Springs, Missouri. Yvonne received an invitation to teach in the El Dorado
Springs School District which meant going back to college. She went to SBU to earn her
Elementary Education Certificate and taught til she reached her retirement age. Shortly
afterward she became a Substitute Teacher until her retirement due to illness in 2021
Yvonne not only taught children in her professional life but also in her spiritual life in
Children's Ministries at the Church of the Nazarene. All stages of life were important to
Yvonne. To those who were students of Yvonne be it school or church, they can attest
of her love, compassion, concern, kindness and understanding; always being the
example of Christ who loved all the children of the world.
Yvonne lived life in high gear ... ALWAYS on the go and putting her utmost effort into
whatever challenge came her way. She loved her family, siblings, contemporaries and
students with a genuine Christlike spirit.
Yvonne, you have many friends and loved ones who have finished the course before
you that you are no doubt getting reacquainted with even now. When our day comes
to cross that great divide you can be sure that you will be among the first we seek out
right after we have met, thanked and praised the Great One, Jesus Christ.
