Wilda was born January 22, 1935, south of Dederick, Mo. the second twin and the 9th child to Charles Edward Vickers and Iva Estella (Whitesell) Vickers. It was during the depression years when times were hard. You didn't waste anything and saved, produced what you ate and purchased the bare essentials to live. None of her siblings ever recall going hungry. They always had plenty to eat. But there was always plenty of hard work on the farm.

At an early age Wilda and her twin sister moved to El Dorado Springs and got jobs at The Diner. The pay they received was 30 cents per hour. She met her future husband Harold Simrell, and they were married May 17, 1953, to this union one son was born Merle Dean Simrell. They later bought a house just east of El Dorado Springs on 54 Highway, which is no longer there. Wilda later worked at Dunbrooke Shirt factory for several years. In 1963 they purchased a small farm in Dederick, Mo that was owned by her Aunt Hattie Vickers. There they started raising cattle. They purchased jersey and Angus calves from Wilda's sister Lora Vickers who was milking cows at that time. Wilda always had a large garden, always raised fryer chickens and had their own eggs. There was an orchard on the farm so they always canned apples too. For a time she didn't work off the farm, when her husband worked for her brother on a cattle farm just north of Dederick. She was always busy preparing dinner for the guys working at her brotherís farm. Wilda later worked at Nelly Don's in Nevada, MO until it closed; in 1971 they purchased a farm south of Dederick and built a house where she resided at the time of her death. Over the years she took care of several nieces and nephews in her home, a couple of her husband's uncles and her mother when Lora her sister was doing farm work.
