Obituary
Robert Homer Cartwright Sr. age 97 of El Dorado Springs, MO. Passed away at Cedar County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
Robert was born July 29, 1923 at home in Vernon County, son of George Cartwright and Mary (McGinley) Cartwright. Robert moved to California with his family in 1939, where he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps then later as an as an auto mechanic. He returned to Missouri in 1957 where he began farming. He was saved at the Missionary Baptist Church in Montigow Springs. Robert married Mildred (Jones) Cartwright on December 20, 1959, and they had 3 sons. He enjoyed many years of taking care of his cattle and milked cows with his wife for about 25 years with their sons helping while they were still living at home. He drove a school bus for about 7 ˝ years. He also enjoyed cutting wood, watching wrestling, going fishing, and would often take his grandchildren fishing when they would come to visit. His little dog Harley was a faithful companion to him after his wife passed in 2011. He enjoyed the company of his cooks and nurses from On My Own, and the care givers that came out to care for him. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren coming to visit him. He also really enjoyed getting to visit his wife’s grave.
Preceding Robert in death were his wife Mildred of over 50 years, his parents, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his 3 sons: Robert Cartwright Jr. (Stephanie), Ron Cartwright (Dolores), and Mike Cartwright (Denise), all of El Dorado Springs. Grandchildren: Dominic Rogers (Ashley), Shelby Smith (Jake), Alexis Raney (Tyler), Anna, Abby, Wayne (Lauren), Wyatt, Laylee, Ashley, Bradley, and Cailey. Great-grandchildren: Caroline and Declan Rogers, Cordell Smith, Monica and Adam Cartwright.
