Barbara Ann (Shaffer) Miller, age 70, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away at her home on November 9, 2011. Barbara was born November 23, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Marie Shaffer.
Barbara married Leonard (James) Miller on June 11, 1960. Barbara was a devoted wife for 51 years to Leonard, a loving mother of four children, grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of three.
Barbara was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in El Dorado Springs. As a retired minister’s wife, her love for God, her family and her church were evident to all. She was a “mom” in every way and made home a place of love, laughter and grace for her family. Every decoration, craft or photo on the walls of her home reflect the fingerprints of her life. Now she continues that process on heaven’s shores as she awaits the arrival of those she’s left behind.
Preceding Barbara in death were her parents; her sister and brother-in-law and one nephew.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard of the home; her brother, Don and Anita Shaffer; her four children: Kevin Miller and wife Cheryle of Warsaw, IL; Jeff Miller and wife Emily of Tustin, CA; Denise Barnes and husband Tom of Olathe, KS; Terry Miller and wife Veronica of Clive, IA; nine grandchildren: Markus and Michele Miller, Curtus Miller, Cale Miller, Ellisa Barnes, Jordan Miller, Kaitlin Barnes, Kylie Miller, Thomas Barnes, and Gabrielle Miller; three great-grandchildren: Issac Waite-Miller, Bradley Miller, and Brooklyn Miller.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 13, 2011, from 7-8 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs, MO. Funeral services for Barbara Miller will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at El Dorado Springs Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Wendell Daniel and Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Jay Jennings and Yvonne Worthington will provide music. Interment, at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, IL, will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
