Joseph (Joe) R. Nikodim, age 88, of Virgil City, Missouri, passed away December 15, 2020. Joe was born September 10, 1932, in Virgil City, the second son of Rudolf and Anna (Trecek) Nikodim.
Joe married Beverly Plain on March 17, 1956. They were married for 64 years and to this union five children were born: Joe Jr, Howard, Doug, Jim, and Dale.
Joe served in the military during the Korean conflict. He began farming shortly after he was married to Beverly. He worked briefly for his father-in-law, Howard Plain, at his repair shop in Compton Junction, MO, and drove a dump truck for several years, before returning full time to farming. He loved living on the farm and enjoyed collecting antique tractors and tools. He enjoyed attending antique tractor pulls for many years also. Anyone who knew Joe would be prepared to be entertained with one of his many “stories” when they visited with him. He was never short for words.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dale; his brothers, John and Ernest; and daughters-in-law, Brenda Nikodim and Lisa Nikodim.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; his sons: Joe Nikodim Jr., Howard Nikodim, Doug and Shelly Nikodim, Jim and Jeannie Nikodim; nine grandchildren: Misty Russell, Kristy Nikodim, Matthew Nikodim, Mandy Nikodim, Melody Madewell, Josh Nikodim, Andrea Nikodim, Tiffany Janes, and Jamie Nikodim; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were: Matthew Nikodim, Josh Nikodim, Nate Russell, Marcus Madewell, Darrell Nikodim, and Mike Nikodim.
