Velma was Russ's favorite aunt. Once on leave from AF. one of the first persons he wanted to see was Velma. She helped us so much with our genealogy research. Velma was interested in our sons and always asked about them. She and John visited us in Alabama and also in Titusville. Velma quilted several quilts for me and sometime never charged for her services. When she thought there was a need she was always willing to help. She made a costume for Julie and did sewing for me also. Love you Velma and tell Russ I miss him so much.

So many great things she accomplished, shared, and gave along this journey we call life. May anyone that ever entered the doors of Concord Missionary Baptist Church, give gratitude to John and Velma for keeping the doors opened for years! Memories I shall cherish along my journey. Bless and comfort this family, Lord hear our prayers. -don

Lord hear our prayers. Wrap your arms of comfort around this incredible family that gave so many of us inspiration and freely gave of thier time and substance to lift others up to be better. We shall have fond memories of John an Velma keeping the doors open at Concord Missionary Baptist Church, while others darkened those doorways. What a legacy to behold!
