Among the things Bennie enjoyed doing were hunting, fishing, playing golf, coyote hunting and spending time with his grandson, Blake Coleman.

Bennie married Nadine Snodgrass on September 21, 1953, and to this union two sons were born: Jerry Coleman and Dave Coleman. Later Bennie married Yvonne Roby and they had a son, Michael Coleman. He also became a step-father to Linda.

Preceding him in death were: his parents; his wife, Yvonne; an infant sister; two brothers, Paul and Dean; and one sister, Doris.

Survivors include three children: Gerald Ray “Jerry” Coleman; David Lee Coleman and wife, Vicki, and her children and their families; and Michael Coleman and Robin Smith; one grandson, Blake; one brother, James Coleman and wife, Joyce; one sister, Donnis Sawyer and husband, Junior; and many nieces and nephews.
