Bob Brown, age 77, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away early Sunday morning, August 7, 2011. He was born January 11, 1934 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, the son of Clyde and Lelia Brown. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. He later attended the Intensive Language Institute in Washington, DC, learning to speak Spanish and French.
He married Margaret Suzanna "Sue" Huff August 3, 1952, in El Dorado Springs, MO. In their 59 years of marriage they had four children, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sue Brown of Bolivar, MO; daughter Pam McMurry of Mount Hope, Kansas; daughter Susan Long of Valley Center, KS; son Dan Brown of Liberty, MO; and son Steven Brown of Willow Springs, MO; and sister Maxine Tant of Nevada, MO.
Bob joined the US Air Force and spent more than 23 years traveling around the world in service to his country. After retiring from the US Air Force, he worked for a short while in the aircraft industry before returning to government service. He retired from the US Postal Service after 19 years, and then returned to the private sector working part time delivering vehicles to various points across the U.S.
Bob had a passion and natural curiosity for people. He rarely forgot a name and enjoyed getting acquainted with people. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in El Dorado Springs, MO. Pastor Patty Smith will officiate and Alyssa Parks will provide music. Final disposition is cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
