Obituary
JoAnn (Haley) Harris, age 77, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away on November 1, 2018. JoAnn was born March 3, 1941, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Claude “Bud” and Betty Haley. She attended Central Junior High and later received her GED.

JoAnn married Edward Long, Jr. on March 2, 1957. To their union one child was born. They were married for 16 years.

JoAnn married Denver Harris, Sr. on September 26, 1986. They adopted two children and were married for 26 years before his passing in 2012.

JoAnn and Ed owned Long’s Drive-in Restaurant in Kansas City, MO, while Ed also worked construction. They also worked in the foster care system. When she married Denver they worked in foster care in Kansas City, KS, from 1986-1990. They owned a specialized group home from 1990-2000. In 2000 they opened Josie’s Cafe and kept it until retiring in 2007.

JoAnn loved helping children in foster care and would give anyone a free meal at her restaurants. She enjoyed gardening, camping, her dogs, going to the car races, and going to her grandson’s baseball and football games. She was their biggest fan and was always there to cheer them on. She always made sure everyone knew how proud she was of Eddie and Steven at their games.

Preceding her in death were: ex-husband, Edward Long, Jr.; husband, Denver Harris, Sr.; her parents; adopted daughter, Faith Harris; brother-in-law, Raymond Molt; and her partner, Steve Frazier. Survivors include: daughter, Sherry Wiser and fiancé, David Levine; son, Buck Harris; stepson, Denver Harris, Jr. and wife Audrey; grandchildren, Eddie Long and wife Ashley and Steven Lamb; step-grandchildren, Denver Harris, III and Dallas Harris; great-grandchildren: Arysa, Boston, Easton, and Annabelle Jo; sister, Claudia Molt; and brother, Willis Haley.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church. Pastor Jack Daniel will officiate. Final disposition was cremation under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
