Sharon Kay (Price) McKinney, age 73, of El Dorado Springs, MO, went home to be with her Lord on Monday evening October 22, 2018, at her home, after a long illness. Sharon was born in Topeka, KS, on May 8, 1945, to Jack and Peggie Joe (Taylor) Price. Her parents later divorced. She spent her formative years and went to school in Topeka, KS, living with her mother. During the summer months she would spend time with her father and step-mother, Marjorie, in Eskridge, KS.
Jack Price later married Marjorie Degnaw. From this union Sharon had three half-brothers: Charles (deceased), Jackie (deceased), and Vernon. Vernon and his wife Debbie live in Emporia, KS.
In 1963, Sharon married Elmer Simpson, who passed away in 2003. To this union four sons were born: Rick Simpson and wife Karen (divorced) of Panama City Beach, FL; Wade Simpson and wife Jennifer (divorced) of Joplin, MO; Darren Simpson and wife Joan of Garnett, KS; and Jeff Simpson and wife Stacy of Baldwin City, KS. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grand-children, five nieces and nephews, and countless cousins.
Sharon’s mother, Peggy Joe, also married Warren Ditch, who died in 1996. Peggy passed away in 2003. From this marriage Sharon had seven half-brothers and three half-sisters: Steve Ditch, Sr. and wife Juanita; Rocky Ditch and wife Tracy; Greg Ditch and wife Kathy; Quintin Ditch and wife Sue; Scott Ditch and wife Sara; Mike Ditch (deceased) and wife Linda; Warren Ditch, Jr. and wife Connie; Lisa Jenkins and husband Don; Kim Hocking and husband Kevin; and Camellia Cosby and husband Ken (deceased). From this family there are thirty nieces and nephews and thirty great-nieces and nephews.
In 1990, Sharon Kay married Archie McKinney. He passed away in 2005.
In 2010, Sharon met Garry Randolph in Garnett, KS, at the Senior Housing Apartments. They soon fell in love and then moved to El Dorado Springs, where they bought a home together.
Sharon loved to play cards, loved flowers, loved to go shopping, and always had a special place in her heart for her pet animals.
She will be greatly missed by all her many special friends and especially by Garry.
A memorial service for Sharon Kay McKinney will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. According to her wishes, final disposition is cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
