Obituary
Robert Lee Bishop, age 93, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away at Heisinger Bluffs Nursing Home in Jefferson City, MO, on Thursday, September 20, 2018. Bob was born on August 7, 1925, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, the son of Peyton and Ella May Bishop. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He married his red-headed beauty Marty Blystone on October 31, 1954.

Bob and Marty enjoyed over sixty years of marriage. They raised two children, Dennis and Judy, who were both born in Tulsa, OK. The family soon returned from the city to the family farm outside El Dorado Springs. Bob thoroughly enjoyed life on the farm and provided for the family by raising cattle.

Bob`s favorite activities included taking care of the farm, reading, playing card and dice games with friends and family, and attending church. After retiring, Bob and Marty began spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona, where they enjoyed the desert southwest. They enjoyed their friends in both El Dorado Springs and Yuma.

Bob began following Jesus in his early forties and gave his life in service to the Lord. He was very active in the life of the church, serving as a deacon of First Baptist Church, El Dorado Springs. He participated in a mission trip to Korea. He was a faithful supporter of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Marty Bishop; his parents, Peyton and Ella May Bishop; his brothers, Loyd Bishop, John Bishop and wife, Mabel; his sister, Mary Bishop; and his nephew, Orlin Bishop.

Bob is survived by his son, Dennis Bishop and wife, Melissa, of Jefferson City, Missouri; his daughter, Judy Wilson and husband, Woody, of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; grandchildren: Josh and Sarah Wilson of McKinney, TX, Nathan and Meg Wilson of McKinney, TX, Matthieu and Lauren Wilson of Easley, SC, Rachel and Brett Tidwell of Palestine, TX, Dustin McTeer of Jefferson City, MO, Matthew and Jenna McTeer of Jefferson City, MO, and Jenny Morelli of Baton Rouge, LA; great-grandchildren: Ariel McTeer, Aniston Wilson, Cadence Wilson, Silas Wilson, Brooks McTeer, Isla Wilson, Jack Wilson, Blaire Wilson, Jude Wilson, and Lively Wilson; and niece, Janice Worthington.

Memorial services for Bob Bishop will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado Springs with Rev. Ron Marsh and Dr. Woody Wilson officiating, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Music will be provided by Rita Farris and Emma Lou Spencer. Final disposition is inurnment.
