Obituary
Delpha Maxine (Jones) Berning, age 91, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away September 30, 2017, with her family at her side. She was born February 3, 1926, in Cedar County, MO, near Stockton. She was the youngest and last living child of Earnest S. and Maude E. Jones.

Delpha grew up in the Amity Community, attending the country school. Though she didnít get to go to high school, she was very proud of getting her GED in her 50ís.

Delpha was saved at the age of fifteen and joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She was baptized in Cedar Creek on a cold November day. It had been raining and turned to snow, but just as she entered the water the sun came out.

She married Earl Jr. Berning on April 24, 1951, in Harrison, AR. They started married life on a farm and were blessed with six children. Delpha was a typical farm wife. Besides caring for family, she helped with farm chores: milking cows, hauling hay, and anything there was to do.

In 1971, the family moved to Dederick, MO, in Vernon County. She was employed by the Nevada State Hospital as a psych aide and retired after eighteen years.

After the death of her husband, she moved to El Dorado Springs and then her life centered around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She felt needed as she would take her grandchildren wherever they needed to go.

She loved making quilts for everyone and looked forward to Sunday suppers and the many family gatherings.

Preceding Delpha in death were her parents, her husband, three brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include six children: Roger Berning and wife Sharon, Max Berning and wife Carolyn, Denny Berning and wife Kathy, Danny Berning, Barry Berning and wife Carlene, and Jean Stroer and husband JR; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Delpha was a very important part of the family and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Delpha Berning will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Stockton City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are: Dustan Berning, Aspen Berning, Joshua Berning, Jacob Berning, D.J. Berning, and Aaron Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are: Barkley Jones, Leon Jones, Brad Jones, Kristin McNeece, Kandice Berning, Emily McCowan, and Savannah Barker.
