Susie Ann Woods, age 69, of rural El Dorado Springs entered into the gates of heaven on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Susie was born on January 17, 1948, in Lutts, Tennessee, the daughter of Elmer and Alma (Johnson) Tilley. She lived most of her life in Missouri and Tennessee.
Susie and William Woods had two children, Donna Sue Tilley and Michael Woods.
Susie lived in Warsaw and Clinton area for many years before moving to rural St Clair County. She loved the farm life and being outdoors.
In 1991, Susie moved with her best friend and companion, Ed Alexander. Their friendship and companionship was made of love. They had a very special relationship. Along with Ed came the rest of his family who loved and cared for Susie as her illness progressed.
Susie worked at Rival in Clinton, MO, for many years until they closed. She then began working at Community Springs Nursing Home as a cook. She loved the residents and preparing food for them. She had to retire in 2015 due to health problems.
Susie battled many health issues and was one of the strongest women there ever was. She never let her illness get her down and fought the fight of many hospital stays, dialysis, multiple doctor appointments and not being able to work any longer. She never wavered in her faith during all of this.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Alma Tilley; her brothers, Elmer Tilley Jr. and Etheridge Tilley; and her sisters, Elvie Perry, Gladys Schultz and Virginia Casteel.
Surviving of the home is her best friend and companion, Ed Alexander and her faithful canine companion, Petey. Also surviving are her son and daughter in love, Kenny and Denise Alexander; her grandchildren: Kendra and Brien Bausch, Chastity and Mike McCullick, Jeremy and Emmylee Alexander, Kaleb and Emily Alexander and Ashley Alexander; her great grandchildren- Randon, Kevin and Destiny Alexander, Bradley, KayLynne and Gannon McCullick. Also surviving are her children: Donna Sue Tilley and Michael Woods; and sisters: Pauline Cochran and Linda Buchanan.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at Bland Hackleman Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Batson officiating. Burial will be at El Dorado Springs CityCemetery.
Pallbearers are Kenny Alexander, Jeremy Alexander, Randon Alexander, Kevin Alexander, Mike McCullick and Bradley McCullick. Honorary pallbearers are Brien Bausch, Kaleb Alexander, Ashley Alexander, Destiny Alexander, KayLynne McCullick and Gannon McCullick.
