Harold Duaine Hughes, age 82, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016. He was born September 2, 1933, in Norton, Kansas, the son of Francis Hughes and Gertrude (Pittaway) Hughes.
Harold married Wanda Stroup on November 26, 1961. They were married forty-one years until Wanda’s passing in 2003. Four sons were born to their union.
Harold worked in the oil industry for Halliburton for thirty-five years. Six of those years were spent in Singapore. In 1988, he and Wanda bought a farm near El Dorado Springs and started building a house. They moved there when Harold retired in 1991. Harold raised cattle and operated a welding shop from the farm.
Preceding Harold in death were his wife, Wanda; his parents, Francis and Gertrude, his brothers, Dean and Howard; and his sister, Ethel.
Survivors include his four sons: Michael, James, Curt, and Shane; granddaughters: Loretta, Sharla, and Kristin; grandson, Eric; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Harold Hughes were held Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Stockton Assembly of God Church with Rev. Randy Hayward and Rev. James Coleman officiating. Interment followed at Pankey Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Shane Hughes, Curt Hughes, Jim Hughes, Steve Ellis, and Danny Garrison.
