Lavale Fugate, age 94, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away July 24, 2015, at Community Springs Healthcare. Lavale was born June 26, 1921, in Burnside, Kentucky, the daughter of Rev. A.Z. and Delores (Jackson) Matthews. She attended Urbana High School (Skyline) and graduated in the class of 1938.
Lavale married Virgil D. Fugate on June 10, 1940. They were married 56 years before Virgilís passing in January 1996. Virgil and Lavale had three children.
In August 1963, Lavale, Virgil and Harold Dean moved to El Dorado Springs and purchased the Ford dealership. From then until January, 2011, Lavale was actively involved in the operation of Fugate Motors and Fugate RV.
Preceding Lavale in death were her husband, Virgil; her parents, Rev. A.Z. and Delores Matthews; two children: son, Lawrence Dale at one month and daughter, June Lynette at age thirteen; granddaughter, Angela Fugate at age nine months; three brothers: Rev. Faust Matthews, Rev. Bill Matthews, and Rev. Monty Matthews; sister, LaVaughn Doubt; brother-in-law, Stanley Doubt; and sister-in-law Betty Matthews.
Survivors include her son, Harold Dean Fugate and wife Robin of El Dorado Springs, MO; two granddaughters: Tori Fugate of Kansas City, MO, and Denise Lynette Sisco and husband Shawn of Rolla, MO; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Myers and husband Dustin of Ozark, MO; one great-great-grandson, Jude Matthew Myers; one brother, Rev. Jack Matthews and wife Jean of Springfield, MO; and numerous other family members.
Funeral services for Lavale Fugate will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of God (Holiness) with Pastor Joe Trussell officiating. Music will be provided by Cammie Housh and Faith Trussell. Interment will follow in Bowers Chapel Cemetery near Urbana, MO, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are: Donnie Beaty, Randy E. Bland, Mark Boch, Larry Brown, Jimmy Novak and Ron Sewell. Honorary pallbearers are: Bob Beaty, Jim Hopkins, Silas McGehee, Charles Worthington, Virginia Bland, Wanda Casey, Avelina Heath, Bonnell Huff, Luella Phipps, and Alma Ross.
