Donald Edwin Marshall, age 85, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, was born December 29, 1929, to Alfred and Mary Marshall. He passed away January 12, 2015, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Missouri.
Don was saved and baptized at Blackjack, with his sister Darlene, in 1995. He married Mildred Lorene Pankey on December 31, 1951 and to this union seven children were born.
Preceding him in death were his wife Mildred; his parents Alfred and Mary; his sister Darlene; infant siblings Gerald and Fern; and grandson Dillon Frieze.
Survivors include seven children: Sharon Berning and husband Roger; Randy Marshall and wife Carolyn; Sheila Frieze and husband Mark; Lindell Marshall and wife Kris; Sharyl Wynes and husband Mike; Sharla Stonebraker and Guy Manning; and Shana Newman and husband Jeff; one brother, J.C. Marshall and wife Janet; two sisters: Thelma Forest; and Shirley Campbell and husband C.B; one sister-in-law, Marvalene Pankey; one brother-in-law, Doyle White; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was a member of Union Hall Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs.
Don was an avid gardener. He was known for his massive watermelon patches and beautiful gardens. He loved working outside and built a log cabin, in Virgil City, from the ground up. His cabin hosted many reunions, trail rides, and family gatherings, throughout the years. As a young man he had a passion for horses, which carried over into his love of driving his team of mules later in life.
Don worked twelve years at the Shoe Factory, ran a dairy farm, retired from Witt Printing after seventeen years and drove a school bus.
Funeral services for Donald Edwin Marshall will be held at Bland-Hackleman Chapel on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Barger and Rev. Elbert Ford officiating. Don and Karen Rains will provide music. Interment will follow in Virgil City Cemetery under the direction and Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are: Randy Marshall, Lindell Marshall, Randon Marshall, Justin Marshall, Josh Berning, and Jacob Berning. Honorary pallbearers are: Roger Berning, Mark Frieze, Mike Wynes, Jeff Newman, Bill Coleman, and Lawrence Hicks.
