Sharon Reeder, age 70, of Richwood, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on August 29, 2014. Sharon was born October 14, 1943, to Ethel and Fred Reeder in Galveston, Texas. She attended Lovenberg Junior High and Ball High School and then continued her education at Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. She received her degree from TWU in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in 1968 and devoted 35 years to enriching the lives of children at Alamo Elementary in Galveston, Texas. Sharon resided in Galveston for 48 years and then resided in Texas City, Texas, for 21 years. In 2002, Sharon retired and moved to Richwood, Texas, to be near family.
After her retirement Sharon enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching, and shopping. Sharon had a big heart and loved animals. She loved spending time with her great niece, Kristen, and great nephew, Brant and enjoyed their after school companionship every day for 8 years.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Ethel and Fred Reeder, brother John Reeder, sister Delphia Gabriles, and great nephew Grant Muir.
Sharon is survived by nieces and nephews, Glenda Muir and husband Gilbert, Gary Gabriles and wife Donna, Jerel Gabriles and wife Charlotte, Lorie Copus and husband Dennis; great nephew, Greg Muir; great niece Kimberly Taylor and husband John, five great- nieces and nephews, Chase Muir, Kristen Taylor, Brant Taylor, Chelsea Muir, and Grace Muir; three step-great nieces and nephews, Stephanie Weir and husband David, Jennifer Neel and husband Ryan, Jason Lindsey and wife Hermie; and special friends and caretakers, Isabell (Bell) Franklin and Mary Greenwood.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, Missouri. Graveside services and interment will immediately follow at Love Cemetery. Rev. Joe Trussell will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
