Ruth Edna (Bishop) Rieder, age 95, joined her beloved husband Raymond when she passed on February 15, 2014. Ruth was born September 16, 1918, at the family farm near El Dorado Springs, Mo. Ruth’s love for family, gardening, people in general and her savior Jesus Christ was gentle and giving. Ruth and her husband were long time residents of Independence, Mo. where they lived in the home they built.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Raymond Fred Rieder and her eldest son Gene Raymond Rieder. She lives on in the hearts of her sons Larry and wife Kathie of Stockton, MO and Gerald and wife Yanell of Abilene, TX.
She leaves seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren: Laurie (Rieder) Smith, her husband Bob and children Lauren, Trey and Michael of California; Bryce Rieder, wife Amy and son Cameron of Independence, MO; Aaron Rieder , wife Julie and children Austin and Kentley of El Dorado Springs, MO: Ryan Rieder , wife Brandi and son Kysen of Raytown, MO; Gena (Rieder) Widner, husband Jeremy and sons Noah and Daniel of Independence, MO; Karen (Rieder) Ash, husband Buck and sons Jordan and Jonah of Odessa, MO; and Lance Rieder, wife Amy and children Ryan and Emma.
Ruth was buried next to her husband Ray and her son Gene at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery on Monday, February 17, 2014. There will be a Memorial Service for Ruth at her long time attended Church of Christ in Raytown, MO, on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the people of the Stockton Healthcare Facility for the gentle care and love they gave to our beloved mother during the last 5 months of her life and to the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home for their guidance, assistance and care for Ruth’s burial
