James L. ďJimĒ Walker, age 82, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away December 10, 2013. Jim was born May 21, 1931, to Joe and Mae Walker. He attended school in Kansas City until the 7th grade, at which time he and his family moved to Stella, MO. Jim graduated high school in 1949. Jim married Jo Anne Rhea in 1950. They were married 63 years before Jimís passing.
Jim and Jo Anne have four children: Russell and wife Terry, of Joplin, MO, Bruce and wife Donna, of El Dorado Springs, MO, Richard and wife Judy, of Springfield, MO, and Debbie MeFadden of White Water, KS. Jim and Jo Anne also have twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Jim and Jo Anne lived on a dairy farm in Boulder City, MO, for two years. They moved to California for two years before returning to the dairy farm in Missouri to work with Jimís father. In 1958, Jim began his career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol; his radio number was 464. Jimís first assignment was in Buffalo, MO, and after two years he was transferred to El Dorado Springs. He remained stationed in El Dorado Springs until his retirement in 1989, 31 years later.
Jim was baptized at the age of nineteen at the Lone Star Church of Christ. He served as an elder in the El Dorado Springs Church of Christ for seven years.
Jimís hobby was motorcycles, which he started riding at age sixteen, and he continued riding throughout his life. He made many friends and traveled extensively on numerous motorcycle trips across the country.
Besides his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Jim is survived by his wife Jo Anne, of the home; and his sister, Joanna Freeman, of Pittsburg, KS. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter ďBudĒ Walker, of Neosho, MO.
The family received friends on Friday, December 13, 2013, from 6-7 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness). Mike Pace officiated and the Church of Christ singers provided music. Burial followed at 3:00 p.m. at Hazelgreen Cemetery in Boulder City, MO, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Clint McFadden, Dustin Walker, Clay Walker, Eric Kriete, Lee Langdon, and Derrick Sprankle.
