William “Bill” Hulett, age 77, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away at Cedar County Hospital on Thursday evening, December 5, 2013. Bill was born February 3, 1936, to Virgil Jesse Hulett and Irma Grace (MacFarlane) Hulett at Tarkio, Missouri.
Bill attended elementary school in Tarkio and graduated from high school in Clinton, Missouri, after his family moved there. While in high school, he played tuba in the band. After graduation, he worked for Missouri Public Electric. He then attended college to attain a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. This degree enabled him to teach Industrial Arts. He got his Master of Science degree in 1975.
Bill served in the Army and was stationed in Germany in 1959 and 1960. While there he was a tank driver for the 3rd Motorized Tank Battalion; he was also an expert marksman.
Bill loved music, photography, leather working, and traveling. He also enjoyed going to the coffee shop and visiting, which he did as long as his health permitted.
Bill was married to Elsie Mae Wise, who preceded him in death. He later married Thelma Murrell Woolford, and they spent over forty years together.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents: Virgil and Irma Hulett; sister, Mary; brother, Bud; and step-son, Elmo Woolford.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma, of the home; her children: Gerald Woolford, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Bill Woolford, of Brighton, Missouri, Wilda Carnell, of Bellevue, Washington, Darlene Thrasher, of Evansville, Indiana, and Betty Wood and husband, Richard, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; sisters: Pat Wicks and husband, Jim, of Lenexa, Kansas, Charlotte Endicott and husband, Duane, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Carol Schriner and husband, Darrel, of Clinton, Missouri, and Susie Harris and husband, Wayne, of Holt, Missouri; and brother Bob Hulett and wife, Cindy, of Higginsville, Missouri; and a large extended family.
Funeral services for William Hulett were held on Monday, December 9, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Music was provided by Carolyn Nichols and Sandra Stewart. Interment followed in Clintonville Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Craig Wood, Alex Woolford, and Randy Wood.
