Obituary
Maurice K. Bland, age 80, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away June 24, 2013. Maurice was born July 25, 1932, to Virgil and Mabel (Gannaway) Bland in Caplinger Mills, Missouri. His sister, Virginia, greeted him and another sister, Joyce, followed in 1934.

Maury, also known as “Mouse,” attended high school in El Dorado Springs and Iola, Kansas. His favorite class was basketball, at which he excelled. After high school, he joined the United States Army in 1952.

Maury married Bonnell Leonard, and to this union five children were born: Regina, Pam, DeDe, Kent, and Kevin. The family moved back and forth between Missouri and California several times because Maury was employed as a surveyor in California and a car dealer in Missouri.

In 1974 Maury married Catherine Murphy and they also frequently moved between Missouri and the West Coast. He was a member of the 54 Cruisers and enjoyed old cars.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce, twin infant sisters Beryl and Pearle, daughter Regina Foster, and infant granddaughter Melissa.

He is survived by his wife Catherine of the home; four children: Pam, DeDe, Kent and Kevin; one sister Virginia Ledford and husband Don; twelve grandchildren: Christopher, Bethany, Jeremy, Amy, Tara, Courtney, Crystal, Stacy, Justin, Brandon, Daniel, and Kasey; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Bland Hackleman Funeral Home in Eldorado Springs, Missouri. Funeral services for Maurice will be held Sunday, June 30, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at the El Dorado Springs Church of God (Holiness) with Rev. Wendell Daniel, Rev. Brent Bland, and Rev. Joe Trussell officiating. Music will be provided by Terry and Gwen Chance, Jay and Julie Jennings, Larry Oehring and Jeremy Oehring. Burial will be in Love Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
