William (Bill) Edward Norton, age 78, of rural Stockton, MO, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield late Friday night, March 1, 2013. Bill was born November 18, 1934, in Ozark County, MO, the son of Lloyd and Lula Norton.
Bill married Jeannie Ann Norton on July 1, 1983. They were married 21 years before Jeannie's passing in 2005.
Growing up in Missouri, Bill moved to Kansas where he worked for United Bakery Equipment (UBE) from which he retired. He then moved back to Missouri where he lived the remainder of his life on his property in the Stockton area. Bill was a very loving and devoted family man. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a nice joke. He was an excellent carpenter and frequently made pieces for loved ones and others in the community. He was a 40 year member of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of Kansas.
Preceding Bill in death were his wife, Jeannie; his parents; his brothers Elza and Marvin; and one sister, Clemmie.
Survivors include his two sisters: Faye and Mattie; his four children: Troy Edward Norton of Texas; Nancy Jo Wallace of Kansas; James Wayne Tague of Kansas; and Lisa Lynn Tague-Young of Kansas; grandchildren: Troy Edward Norton Jr., Joseph William Norton, Michael Alexander Norton, Angela Nicole Norton, Steve Wallace, Danielle Amber Louise Putnam, Shauna Ann Michelle Hernandez, Breanna Jo Marie Putnam, and Joshua James Young; and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bill Norton will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Marvin Wray officiating. Music will be provided by Reagan Brown. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Caplinger Mills Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are: Burl Norton, Rick Norton, Mark Burk, Darrel Ray, David Hernandez, and Dillon Brown. Honorary pallbearers are: Danny Norton and Dale Brown.
