Obituary
Helen W. Batterson Boch, age 98, formerly a resident of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away February 25, 2013. She was currently residing in St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, MO. She was born October 21, 1914, near Roscoe, MO, the sixth of eight children to D.H. and Mary Florence Kelley Batterson.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband C.L. Boch, a daughter Joan Dody, and a grandson Donnie Dody.

She leaves to grieve her passing: a daughter Vera Fox and husband Virgil of Lee’s Summit, MO; and a son Marcus Boch and wife Rhonda of El Dorado Springs, MO. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses: Debbie McGinnis and husband John; Dana Ridinger and husband Rance; Janet Thompson and husband Mike; Cindy Dunn and husband Peter; Doug Fox and wife Kim; Heather Surbrugg and husband Ken; and Matt Boch and wife Johnna; twenty great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

On November 4, 1932, Helen was married to C.L. (Coon) Boch. Helen and Coon lived on a farm near Taberville from 1932 until they moved to El Dorado Springs in 1977. They started farming with horses and did everything the hard way. They lived on the same farm for 37 years raising cattle and hogs with grain and hay crops.

In 1944 Helen and Coon were saved in an old time revival meeting and were baptized in the Osage River. This began a life of service for God. They were active in the Bethel Church near Taberville for many years. In February of 1977 they sold their farm and moved to El Dorado Springs. They joined the First Baptist Church and were active members until their health declined.

Helen leaves empty hearts behind and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Ron Marsh will officiate. Burial will follow in the Taberville Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are: Doug Fox, Jeremy McGinnis, Matt Boch, Mike Hallford, Ken Surbrugg, and John McGinnis. Honorary pallbearers are: Steve Hoover, Virgil Fox, Neal Houser, Jack Coffey, Bobby Killian, and Rance Ridinger.
